Fernando José Escriña

“I approached the art of drawing my comic book characters and other confetti. Everything that is art I like very much, I understand it from the concept to express anything: a pen, a cat, a feeling…”.

For Fernando Escriña, art is a way of expressing and communicating. Through his works and personal iconography he shares thoughts, feelings, ideas, places and landscapes among others.

Sometimes his works arise from doodles where he selects curves, color fields and lines. Other works feature comic characters such as Antonio, Fredy, Paco or the extraterrestrial Commander Pitito. According to the personality of each character Fernando uses them to express feelings. In his own words “they are like doubles that I invent to say things I feel”.
Another recurring theme of expression in his works is Nothingness, where light is fundamental to find a new meaning.

“Another thing I have found is the emptiness or the Nothingness in moments of great crisis where I could not draw, I had no ideas, no thought. So I found that by making new senses I could see everything in the light and find that original thing that nobody has expressed yet. Another thing I found in the Nothingness is the possibility to heal myself and my environment by taking everything from the light.
